Did you know that Google Docs are automatically synced to Claude projects?!
When you add a Google Doc to a Claude project’s files, any changes to that document are instantly available in the conversations in that project. It’s the coolest thing.
In this video, I show you how this works and why this it’s so useful - especially for teams.
This is my first tutorial-style video - it only took me about two dozen takes 🤪 - and all feedback is welcome. Let me know if you found this useful and what other topics I should cover!

I love Claude projects. I use them for essentially everything that I do when I’m working in Claude.
And one of the coolest things about them is that Google Docs are automatically synced to Claude projects when you add them as project files directly from your Google Drive.
So I’m going to show you how that works and why that’s so cool.
So I’ve got a sample project here in Claude, and I’m going to add a file to the project files from Google Drive. Of course, you need to connect your Google Drive account for that to show up, but once you do, it’s as simple as you just saw. So there’s the file.
So the first thing that I’ll show you is a convenience feature. So you can click on any file that’s listed there, and it opens up in Google Docs. So that’s just super convenient.
Now let’s get to the syncing part. The easiest way to show you that it does sync is by updating the title. So we’ll go back to Claude, and we’ll see that the title is 01 Company Overview, right, just like it is here. And so let’s add the company name, this fake company name, to the title. We’ll do that. And we’ll go back to Claude. And now you do have to refresh the page to see that in the interface. But you’ll see there it’s instantly available — Meridian Company Overview.
So now let’s edit something in the document and chat with it. So let’s — this is an easy one that we can add. Let’s say we’ve added some accounts, right? So let’s say now we’re up to 155 active accounts. And so we were at 135. So we edit that, save to Drive, go back to Claude and you don’t need to refresh or do anything. You just need to chat with it. So — how many active customers does Meridian have?
There we go, 155 active accounts.
So this just shows you how convenient this is because the whole point of Google Docs is that anyone can edit them, right? So this document, it’s a company overview, so this might be added to any number of projects across your organization’s Claude instances. And certain people might be able to have access to this and make edits to this, and all their edits would be instantly available to any project that uses this document.
So this is just super convenient. And of course, you’ve also got Google Docs’ version control built in and access control so only the right people can edit these things.
And so it’s really just a simple but useful integration that keeps things streamlined, lets you keep documents updated, context documents updated, but have them instantly available in Claude projects.
So I hope you found this useful and let me know what else you’d like to know.
